I am planning on visiting both Michigan and Western Australia this year (2013) to do GROUP classes. Information will be posted once things are set and in place.
The Michigan class will be hosted by Tammy Bates of Moonlight Studios. Tammy is located in Owosso, MI. I will be doing both Maternity and Newborn.
The Australia class will be hosted by Anja McDonald in Western Australia, 20 mins from Perth. I will be teaching both Maternity and Newborn, and will be doing two classes on each so that the class sizes are not too large.

My 1:1 & 1:2 mentoring sessions (done here in my studio in the Portland, Oregon area), are done on days that work for both you and I…which means there is no set schedule…but rather, we will set a date that works for both of us. I work either 1:1 or 2:1 only, because I beleive you need a lot of hands-on experience to really master this stuff. If we do 2:1, each participant receives a $100 per day discount.
My 1:1 mentoring sessions are as follows:
1 Day - Newborn Photography - $1600
1 Day - Maternity Photography w/1-hour of Post Processing - $1200
1 Day - Photoshop and Post Processing - Full Day – $800
1 Day - Running a Mat & Nbrn Photography Business Full Day – $800
2 Days - Newborn Photography (Day 1) and Maternity Photography w/1-hour of Post Processing (Day 2) – $2800
2 Days – Newborn Photography (Day 1) and a full day of Photoshop Post Processing (Day 2) - $2400
2 days – Maternity Photography (Day 1) and a full day of Photoshop Post Processing (Day 2) - $2000
3 Days – Maternity Photography, Newborn Photography, and a full day of Photoshop and Post Processing OR Running a Maternity and Newborn Photography Business - $3600
4 Days – Maternity Photography, Newborn Photography, full day of Photoshop Post Processing, AND Running a Maternity and Newborn Photography Business - $4000 ($400 savings)
If you come with another person, each person receives a $100 discount off each day.
This is a General Guideline, although sessions are tailored to what YOU want to learn. You can mix and match according to what you want to learn. I do not do Maternity AND Newborn mentoring in a one day session. There is simply not enough time. These MUST be two separate days. When I say Maternity 1-hour of Post Production, this means that most of our day is spent shooting maternity. Once finished with shooting, we have about an hour, maybe two, to go over Post Production of the Maternity images. If you want to get the most out of your trip here, I highly recommend a minimum of three days. These mentoring sessions are intensive and hands on. It can be overwhelming to try to fit everything you may want to learn into two days. I have a LOT of people that I mentor…and the thing I hear the most, is how much people wish they would have added an additional day.
We discuss what YOU want to learn, and that is what is covered in your session(s). Some people want two full days of newborns. Some people want a day newborns and a day of post processing. It varies, and I am flexible.
Hi there – I love all of your stuff! I was just wondering if you have ever thought of doing a newborn posing video – or would be able to post a few behind the scenes shots of how you transition from pose to pose – or how to get them in position to start with? I am just starting out and have only done a few shoots so far and can master the basic poses, but can’t seem to transition the babies smoothly without waking them up to much! Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

I am starting a photography business and have decided to focus on newborn photography, at least for now. I currently work full time and have a family to care for also. I am looking for any kind of guidance/classes/mentoring that I can get.
