Where did you get that PROP??

Since Facebook has deleted the ‘Discussions Tab’ where I used to keep this information – I have decided to put it here.  This is information about where to obtain certain props and their prices. I hope you find some great savings here!

Previous Facebook ‘Discussions Tab’ Info

MOUSE PAD TYPE FLOORS

A very popular type of flooring prop right now are the one’s that are like large mouse pads. This means they roll up easily, store easily, and can even be put in the washer and dryer! They are a think rubber type of material, with an image on them…simply put…just like a over sized mouse pad. I’m going to list a few places you can buy them, along with pricing…as it varies quite a bit from place to place. I’m sure there are more places than I list…so chime in if you know of one. Especially if they have great pricing! I suggest the 44×66 size, and the pricing I list is for that size.

Bargain Outfitters $99.97

(They only have 3 different one’s to choose from – but I LOVE the one I got)

The Backdrop Shop $150

(Shipping is SUPER fast from this lady!)

Traditions in Thyme $159.95

Denny Manufacturing Company, Inc. $195 (They have sales on them all the time…like 50% off!)

(They took almost a month to ship my floor to me – although I only paid $99 for mine because it was on sale)

PUCK-STYLE BEANBAG FOR NEWBORN SHOOTS

There are a few places you can get the puck style bean bags from (yes, you do need a puck style for the newborn shots) They are all pretty much the same…so I would go for the best cost savings. Truly, one is not better than the other that I can see.

This is where I purchased mine from. They are $90 and come already filled.

Another is The Newborn Nest, which you can find on FB – They are $89, but don’t come with the fill. You have to purchase that separately, and I think it takes 2-3 bags. I know you can buy bags of fill at Walmart for like $15, so be prepared to spend another $45 on fill.

Another is ShootBaby, and they are $95…and do NOT come with the fill, just like the Newborn Nest. Again, be prepared to spend additional money on fill.

I found yet another puck style bean bag at Skeeterbug.

$85 and not filled…so again, you’ll have to invest another $45 in filling.

WOOD LOOKING BACKDROPS

Here is the company that I purchase my Wood looking backdrops from. They have awesome Wallpaper ones as well! I am providing both their STORE website, and their eBay Store information.  These backdrops and floors are a Polypropylene Paper material, much like a vinyl table cloth with NO glare – even with strobes.  You CANNOT beat their pricing!!

I Really Enjoy Your Site…

I have a few questions if you don’t mind. If someone is starting out with basically nothing, what would you recommend them purchasing for indoor photography? I really don’t have a budget to give you at this time as I am just getting startd and will work towards whatever amount I need to come up with. I want to start out right. I need to get some kind of lighting because the room I have does not give enough natural light. Should I get a softbox or umbrella or both? Recommendations where to purchase this? I also need backdrop and floor. Can you recommend a couple of basics that would work for different subjects? I looked at the site you posted above and those prices are pretty cheap compared to all the other sites I have been to. My husband is going to help make baseboards.

I really appreciate any advice you can give me. I am so excited to begin this journey!!
